It Has Happened. Kindle Fire is a Legitimate Competitor for iPad
Do you like this story?
There are plenty of ways to interpret Best Buy’s information, for instance there is only one Kindle Fire but multiple versions of the iPad, but one thing is true; the Kindle Fire is putting the heat on Apple’s tablet.
When it was first launched by Amazon, the Kindle Fire, while half the size and with less capabilities, was being hailed as the first real competition for the iPad. The hype was so big that it was hard to see through it. Some believed that the Kindle Fire would end up in the ranks with Samsung; close, but not close enough. With news of one of the largest retail electronics stores putting Amazon’s tablet at the top of the best-seller list, it puts things into perspective. Apple has some competition on its hands.
Amazon is selling the Kindle fire at a remarkably low price- according to IHS iSuppli, at a loss. By taking the burden of cost of the tablet off of consumers, Amazon is making great progress in closing the market share gap that has been created by the iPad. Will this lead Apple to rethink its line? Will we see a cheaper iPad in the near future?
