It's Friday - Google 2011 searches shows we are waiting for the weekend . Online, Google 0
15 December 2011 13:35 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Google has released its annual zeitgeist of the world's top searches for 2011 with Rebecca Black's Friday toping the bill as the number one rising search around the world.
But it is not just the YouTube hit sensation we searched for, but mainly Apple products, with the iPhone 5 (still yet to be released) and the iPad 2 featuring in the top 10 fastest rising searches. The death of Apple CEO Steve Jobs also featured suggesting the Internet and Google is still dominated by people that enjoy tech more than most.
Even Battlefield 3 managed to make it into the top global searches beating its arch nemesis Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, even though the later just beaten Avatar to making its first billion dollars in sales.
Take the searches local and the story is very different. In the UK we were fascinated about the Royal Wedding, the iPhone 5, Fifa 12, Groupon, iPad 2, Ryan Dunn, Adele, Minecraft, Rebecca Black, and Ed Sheeran.
As for the top overall searches it shows that as a nation we don't like to type .com or any other domain moniker.
The top 2011 UK searches are:
1. Facebook
2. YouTube
3. Hotmail
4. Ebay
6. Google
7. BBC
8. Amazon
9. Argos
10. Yahoo
And here's that Friday video just so you can enjoy it one more time:
