Having been a little disappointed by the original Fix-it-up, I was interested to see how the latest instalment in the series, Fix-it-up: World Tour, would turn out. Fortunately, there have been some great improvements for this version.This time round, the concept of building a car repair empire has been expanded across the world. For the player, this means more levels and more twists. The player can now upgrade their shops thus increasing green points and the rent value. Experts can be hired in order to speed up the time in which it takes to repair or upgrade cars. It’s a suitable addition to the car repair formula and a tutorial ensures that veterans and newcomers to the titles have no trouble getting to grips with the gameplay.
39 levels consist within the story mode along with 15 bonus levels and endless levels for each location. It’s a plentiful supply for time management fans. Between story levels, there’s also a storyline that’s more interesting than the previous title and the possibility to upgrade a mansion to reflect success. The different areas around the world change up the scenery for the most part which adds some much needed color to a potentially drab affair. Changing goals also keep the player on their toes more so and it’s good to see such a heavy focus on helping the environment.
Fix-it-up: World Tour is a reasonably gripping affair for fans of the genre, a marked improvement over the original Fix-It-Up. Controls are responsive this time round which makes all the difference. While the amount of detail required on screen still lends itself more to the iPad than iPhone, it doesn’t disrupt gameplay too much.
For the Time Management fan, Fix-it-up: World Tour is a solid entry in the genre and will provide plenty of hours of fun for the asking price.
