Blobster Christmas Review
Do you like this story?
This would be great if it were a free update, but pricing it the same as the original game seems a bit unfair.
How do you make anything more festive? Throw a Santa hat on it, of course! Everyone’s favorite ball of gelatinous goop is back again and this time he is trying to save Christmas. Gathering presents all of the way, Blobster is trying to make it from point A to point B, without falling victim to similar festively adorned enemies.
Pretty much all of the core mechanics that made the original game so successful are back again. Players pull on the blob’s body in any direction to essentially turn the malleable ball into a makeshift slingshot. It can then be directed to fly anywhere in the world where there is a platform to eventually land. As long as contact isn’t made with any enemies the only thing getting in between players and success are environmental obstacles that are scattered throughout.
At risk of sounding jaded, Blobster Christmas feels like a glorified level pack set to a soundtrack that repetitively resembles a holiday orchestra. If this were say, an Angry Birds game, this would have been a completely free update. Instead Chillingo decides to charge ninety nine cents for a fraction of the content that was contained in the original game, which incidentally costs the same price! If you haven’t actually purchased the original, it may ultimately prove to be a better decision. However, if you have already finished the first game and you’re looking for a bit more Blobster action, then look no further.
