Funny Hell Review
Do you like this story?
Funny Hell offers a unique twist on the castle defense genre with a nice combination of interesting gameplay and devilish graphics.
When the game starts, it’s difficult to figure out what exactly is going on. In fact, the first level only presents the gamer with a large red-faced cave, a blue-faced cave and a blinking button on the bottom left. I tapped it and the red cave spewed from within a dubious little creature that then walked forward and completed his goal of attacking the blue cave. Luckily, as the levels progress the amount of instruction increases and of course so does the difficulty.
As for gameplay details, there are several demons to choose from and each has its own special ability such as punching, spitting fireballs and more. The player need only tap on the monster to initiate his ascent from the depths of hell… wait, he’s already there. Basically, tap on the character to bring them out of the cave and they’ll start automatically moving towards the blue team. Of course, the blue team has its own cast of characters to fight, including what seems to be the Grim Reaper.
As for design, the levels are colored with lots of shades of red, which is exactly how I would picture it. It’s all very menacing, but also cute in a way. I guess that’s why it’s called Funny Hell. The actual mechanics of the game is centered around the touch screen so there is no directional pad to point characters in any direction. They all just automatically move towards the blue cave. This makes the game extremely easy to control, but also makes it difficult to collect coins as they’re bouncing about. And these coins are essential to collecting and adding up to ensure the gamer can “buy” more demons.
Funny Hell is a nice combination of interesting gameplay, unique graphics and easy controls for an almost perfect gaming experience. Well, it can’t be perfect if it’s in hell.
