Alleged iPad 3 Part Leaked, Hinting Major Re-design
Do you like this story?
For those of you who look sideways and cross-eyed at the internal guts and glory of these devices, the difference is described like this:
“The tail end of the part makes a “U-turn”, whereas the iPad 2′s Microphone Mic Flex Cable makes almost 90-degree turn both ways.”
The catch of course is that manufacturer replacement parts aren’t always indicative of any kind of final version of things. Often they are called upon to provide proof of concept designs that never see the light of day on retail shelves. Nonetheless it does give us a hint that Apple is hard at work and that the changes they are considering could be quite significant.
It’s all a guessing game at this point of course, but it’s kind of a fun one to play while we wait. I think it is pretty much a guarantee that we’ll see a higher resolution (2048×1536) retina display and a host of make-me-faster upgrades like a new A6 processor, more RAM and more efficient and powerful graphics card. Beyond that it would seem logical that the iPad 3 sees the same kinds of camera upgrades found in the iPhone 4S and maybe a dual-mode wireless chip supporting both CDMA and GSM.
No matter the specifics, it’ll be faster and prettier and I already want one.
