The game of Concentration is about as old as card games themselves. Cards lay face-down on a table and players flip them over, trying to remember where each matching card was at. Treasure Pairs: Pirates combines the game of Concentration with children’s digital books to bring hours of casual gaming fun to the iPad.
There are three different levels of difficulty for each game – bronze, silver and gold. Each mode requires the player to collect coins by completing the round in a certain amount of time. Gold requires the fastest timing. Complete all rounds and earn the 18 coins to unlock a bonus level that, when completed, will produce a fireworks display to enjoy.

The theme is pirate-based. Each level has a hidden object to discover. There is a golden key, a skeleton’s hand, a boat and others. Each new round of Concentration starts with a little poem that tells the story of the pirate’s treasure. So, it is as if you are reading a children’s book that requires a game of Concentration before you can turn the page. The game itself is engaging and entertaining. The objects are never in the same place twice, so each game is new and exciting. The replay value is great for kids of all ages.

What I liked: The combining of a children’s book with a game of Concentration is a clever way to create a new and unique casual gaming experience for kids.

What I didn’t like: Nothing.
