Dell XPS 15 and 17 laptops given performance boost
Do you like this story?
Coming with the "latest second generation intel Core processors" - Sandy Bridge - both machines will get support for i3, i5 and i7 dual core and quad-core options; whilst they'll also get new Nvidia graphics with XPS 15 available with GT 540M mobile graphics with 2GB RAM and XPS 17 Nvidia 555 with 3GB.
The Dell XPS 17 is also fitted with 3D capability with a 1920 x 1080 screen, which you'll need NVision 3D glasses (sold separately) to view, or alternatively via your 3D TV using Nvidia 3DTV Play if you'd prefer.
Both 15 and 17-inch XPS are equipped with a good chunk of RAM; you'll be able to kit the former out with 8GB whilst the latter will be able to handle 16GB.
When you include the likes of a Skype HD certified webcam, JBL speakers and Waves Maxx audio and USB 3.0, the updated Dell XPS range looks, on paper anyway, as though it can handle the majority of tasks - Dell Stage software is also included which is designed to give you easy access to all your music, photos and videos.
We previously brought you news that the Intel Sandy Bridge chips were faulty, however Dell is quick to state that: "All configurations of the new XPS 15 and 17 laptops all feature updated hardware from Intel that is not affected by the chipset issue."
The new XPS 17 is available now in North America, Latin America and Europe. The XPS 15 is available in the United States, and will be rolled out in additional countries in the coming weeks.
