Share and share alike with Kodak's new line-up

Share and share alike with Kodak's new line-up

CES 2011 is really heating up now, with press releases flying out faster than a Jimmy Anderson in-swinger.
And the latest big name to throw out details of what it will be launching at the Vegas-based show is photo specialist Kodak - with a range of new cameras announced and an emphasis on sharing - which is nice.
It's all go for Kodak with the new Easyshare and Play models, with five new cameras in total.
Kicking off with the Kodak Easyshare Touch ($149.95), we're looking at a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen-driven camera with a dedicated video recording button, making 720p video capture a doddle.
It also has a 14-megapixel stills camera on board, with a 5x optical zoom courtesy of the Schneider-Kreuznach lens, as well as Kodak’s smart capture and face recognition features, multiple scene and artistic modes, and a HDMI-out port too.
Next up is the Easyshare Mini ($99.95), which comes in a tiny frame "about the size of a credit card". Despite its diminutive frame, it still packs some pretty impressive specs; including a 3x wide-angle optical zoom lens, 10 megapixels, a 2.5-inch LCD and even a mirror for those moments when you decide that your face is just too pretty not to share with the world.
The Easyshare Sport camera ($79.95) throws waterproof features into the mix (up to 3m), as well as dust protection, to go with its 12-megapixels and 2.4-inch LCD screen.
If you need to grab some Full HD video action in the water though, you'll need the Kodak Playsport video camera ($179.95), which has 1080p shooting capabilities, is waterproof to 3m (as well as shockproof and dustproof), and offers 5-megapixel still images too. And you can fire out your video and images to your buddies using the dedicated Share button.
The Kodak Playfull video camera ($149.95) is like the Playsport but without the waterproof features or the ruggedness - so probably a bit more suitable for the indoorsy type.
Kodak being Kodak, there are also announcements regarding camera peripherals including the Pulse digital frame (7 inches for $129.95 and 10 inches for $199.95) that is a "socially connected product" - read Facebook integration - and also the ESP C310 All-in-One Inkjet Printer ($99.99) which is compact and offers "effortless home use, easy-to-use features".
"Innovation at Kodak has always been focused around making the complex simple for our customers", said Kodak's Betty Noonan
"Today, Kodak continues to bring technological advancements to market that make it easier and more convenient for consumers to share with their friends and family in their own unique way".
Lovely stuff.
There are no details as of yet with regards to UK pricing, but we'll update you as soon as we know more. The cameras are expected to hit US shops in spring 2011.
Pocket-lint is over in Vegas in full force, so be sure to check our CES area to keep up with all of the trade show news as and when it breaks.
