Save Humanity in RoboHero – iPad Game Review

email
RoboHeroIf you are a sucker for any storyline that involves a menacing space station populated with an army of evil robots (is this sounding at all familiar to anybody but me?), then you will love RoboHero. Emerging as a high-quality turn-based tactical strategy game, RoboHero gives you the chance to save humanity –and who doesn’t what that on their resume?
Three gameplay modes are included, allowing you to choose story, arena or multi-player modes with each containing a considerable number of levels and additional content!
The first thing that struck me when I started playing this game was that while it is turn-based, you store numerous moves in your memory bank ahead of time (up to 15). This makes the game move smoothly and is a lot less hassle to play!
The first three levels of the game are a tutorial, guiding you through how to play along with giving you a few tips and tricks. This is very helpful and much appreciated!
Navigating the play-area map in the game is very easy with only a fingertip being required to slide the view around your screen. This makes strategizing and planning even easier when you consider just how many ’15-move’ blocks it might take to accomplish your mission.

What I liked: The hand-painted graphics are really well done. I found they contained just the right balance between detailed realism and comic book styling.
What I didn’t like: Once your robot begins executing your planned set of moves, he goes quite slowly. I wish you could speed him up in some way –I planned the route, I know where he is headed!
To buy or not to buy: This type of ‘try-before-you-buy’ gaming is a fantastic way to give the game a shot without any investment. The initial download is free, but if you want more levels (and I am pretty certain you will) they are available via an in-app purchase.
