iRig Maker Expands iPad Music Making Accessories

IK Multimedia, maker of the popular AmpliTube iRig, set up shop at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). They brought a few of their new iOS device/instrument compatibility gadgets with them. Below is a highlight of the tech-music company’s upcoming wares.

The iRig StompInspired by the AmpliTube iRig, this stompbox is compatible with any iOS instrument or amplifier app and allows precise adjustment of levels with its large input gain knob. Its compact size fits perfectly into traditional pedalboards and with its 1/4-inch jack can be used inline with other effects pedals or plugged directly into amplifiers or PAs without needing adapter cables. It also features a 3.5mm/1/8-inch headphone jack for practicing without waking the baby. The Stomp costs $59.99 and will be available from the company’s website sometime in the Spring.

The DJ Rig App- Throwing their hat into the deejay ring, IK Multimedia announces their full-featured mixing app for iPhone/iPod touch. The app provides instant song play from the devices music library, tempo sync, sample-based pads, performance recording and high-quality DJ effects. What makes this app stand out from the others is X-Sync, which allows users to automatically sync the app audio with external audio sources. The full version is coming soon to the App Store and will cost $9.99, which includes 12 effects and 10 pad sound banks. IK Multimedia is also offering a nearly full-featured version for free. The free app will only include six of the 12 effects and one pad sound bank. The additional sounds can be added via in-app purchase. An iPad version is in development and will be available soon after the iPhone/iPod touch app is released. For mor information, visit the company’s website.

The iRig MIX- To coincide with the DJ Rig app, IK Multimedia is releasing a physical mixing board for the iPad or iPhone/iPod touch. It is similar to a professional deejay mixer with a crossfader, cues, EQ and volume controls.  The gadget allows deejays to use a traditional setup with one or two devices and can be used to mix any type of audio source, including mp3 players and CD players. It features two stereo inputs with gain, bass, treble and volume controls, a stereo output with RCA connectors, a headphone output and four free apps: DJ Rig, AmpliTube, VocalLive and GrooveMaker. The device will be available in February from the company’s website for $99.99.

The iRig MIC Cast App-  Podcasters now have the ability to go mobile with this detachable microphone for iPad or iPhone/iPod touch. This ultra-compact portable voice recording microphone was designed specifically for recording podcasts, interviews and more. It features a sight unidirectional pickup pattern that minimizes background noise. It features a stereo mini-jack headphone output for real-time monitoring of what is being recorded and a mini-switch with two different sensitivity settings for close-up or distance recording. It includes 2 free apps, the iRig Recorder and Vocalive and works with all regular phone calls and any Voice-Over-IP apps. The iRig MIC Cast will be available within the next couple of months from the company’s website and will cost $39.99.
