iOS 5.1 Beta 2 Out

iOS 5.1 Beta 2
Build number 9B5127c, otherwise known as iOS 5.1 Beta 2 is being seeded to developers as I write this. The latest iteration of iOS 5 comes to us almost 2 weeks after the Beta 1 and is ready for release primarily to test a major modification to Photo Stream.
If you use your phone to take as many pictures as I do you have already noticed that once a photo hits your Photo Stream you aren’t able to delete it. Luckily this is no longer the case.
With the new modifications, users will be able to delete new photographs (taken post-install of the iOS 5.1 upgrade) directly from their devices (all at once across all iOS 5.1 devices being wirelessly synced together). Existing ‘legacy photographs’ (if I can call them that) can also be deleted but they will have to be manually deleted from each device individually.
Many thought the existing method of ‘keep forever or purge the entire database’ to remove photographs was a little less than user friendly, especially when there are so many reasons for wanting to remove a picture (not the least of which is just a lousy or blurry shot not worth saving).
While a few other minor bug fixes were also addressed in this release there was no word on whether the battery issues being reported for the iPhone 4S were worked on any further. Apple had indicated that there were fixes for that problem included in the Beta 1 seed of the iOS 5.1 release but overwhelmingly it did not seem to make much difference for those experiencing problems.
The new builds of xCode 4.3 and Apple TV also saw the light of day today.
Apple has not yet announced a release date for this iOS update but with active development underway I think we can expect it will be sooner than later.
