iPad 3 in 2012: Competitors Struggling to Compete

The iPad 3 is certainly under development and new reports have emerged that the refreshed tablet has prototypes internally circulating Apple’s supply chain. The iPad 3 release date is still on track for early 2012, as rumors of a release this year have seemingly dried up.
Apple is apparently in no rush to get the iPad 3 out the door; not only because they perfect their products before they release them to the public, but also because they don’t see any other competing tablet that has successfully been a contender or even a hot selling second choice.
An analyst for JP Morgan, named Mark Moskowitz is responsible for this news and has apparently been in talks with industry insiders who are familiar with the iPad 3 and its current prototypes.

iPad 3 likely to dominate the tablet market in 2012

Moskowitz offered his opinion: “In our view, Apple should be in no rush. The other tablet entrants have stumbled so far, and that trend-line could persist deep into 2012.”
Even large scale companies like HP, Motorola – RIM have found it hard to compete, with HP discontinuing their HP TouchPad altogether and only then during their fire sale did they see huge waves of interest because of the low price liquidation. Late last week, RIM announced that they had shipped only 200,000 PlayBooks compared to the 9.25 million tablets by market leader Apple in their most recent earnings quarter.
Moskowitz also went on to say that he thinks Sony will be the next one up to face the guillotine, as he wasn’t particularly impressed by their demoed tablet. The only company he thinks may have what it takes is Amazon, who could have the potential to create a second place tablet. Also generating a good deal of hype and following is Samsung, despite the legal issues between themselves and Apple.
However, without knowing the entire spec lineup of the iPad 3 that’s hard to see given the extreme demand for Apple’s products which was evidenced recently by the ballooning demand for the iPhone 5.
