Explore the World of Robots with the Robots Activity Cards

Kids love robots and adorable characters of all kinds, making this robot-centric activity app a great way to engage and occupy children with fun tasks and activities that also present learning opportunities. There are 28 activity cards that will have children as young as three (or perhaps even younger) coloring, applying stickers, and solving simple puzzles.
The beginning screen of the Robots Activity Cards app allows you or your child to choose from one of five categories: Build, Find It, Coloring, Puzzles, and Stickers.
In the Build category, children can choose from two different robots to enhance with different parts. Body, head, arms, legs, and background scenery can all be changed by tapping the appropriate buttons. There isn’t a list of different parts to choose from, and instead, children will cycle through options by tapping. This allows children to spend time building a wide variety of robots with unique looks, because there are so many combinations to be found. Favorite robots can be saved using the camera button.
In the Find It category, children can can choose from one of three scenes, where they will be given a list of items to find within it. Items to find are shown on the left, and the goal is to find and tap on the corresponding item in the scene. These are easy puzzles and will not likely interest older children.

The coloring section provides 15 different robot scenes that children can color using paints provided on the sides of the picture. There are three brush sizes and an eraser, but no zoom functionality or undo buttons. It’s a simple paint program, perfect for toddlers.
In the Puzzles section, there are five simple puzzles for children to put together, each with nine pieces. The scenes in the puzzles are adorable and the difficulty level is spot on thanks to visual guides.
Finally, the Stickers section provides children with three different factory scenes and a wide variety of stickers to apply anywhere on the background. This was my favorite part of the app, and creating different robotic scenes will be a hit with kids. The activities in this app are great, with eye-catching colors and characters, but I wish that there were more of them.

What I liked: This is a cute app, and all of the robots within it are adorable. This would be great for younger children who have expressed an interest in this type of character. There are quite a few activities and this app will likely be one that children reach for again and again.
What I didn’t like: There are a lot of activities, but many of them are short. There are only three find the item scenes with five objects each, and the build your own robot section was not interactive enough.
To buy or not to buy: For a child that loves simple activities on the iPad and has a keen interest in robots, this is a worthwhile purchase. The activities are easily repeatable and simple enough to complete while riding in the car, sitting in a restaurant, or anywhere else that children get bored.
