Appetites’ Easy As Pie App Takes the Stress out of Holiday Baking

The holiday season has come crashing down upon us like a terrible and powerful tidal wave. Mere days from now, many of us will be frantically preparing dips, cooking turkeys, and baking pies. Pies… “Oh, no!” you’re thinking, “I forgot to find a recipe for pumpkin pie!” Have no fear, Appetites is here with a fantastic new recipe app, Easy as Pie.
Are you tired of the same old Pumpkin Pie recipe? Try something new this year with a Chai Spice Pumpkin Pie instead. Don’t know how to make crust from scratch? No problem. Follow the step-by-step visual instructions and you’ll be baking your way into the hearts of your significant other’s parents in no time at all. Baker-extraordinaire Evan Kleiman takes you through the process of creating one of 20 delicious pies plus wonderful toppings and from-scratch crusts. Every important step is presented visually and with a repeatable audio track.

Pies are categorized by “Specialty Pies,” “Evan’s Favorites,” “Pudding Pies,” “Toppings,” and “Crusts. Each category has between five and seven instructional videos that must be downloaded before watching. The download does not take long and once it is complete, you can call it up at any time for reference.

With the bake-heavy holiday season just around the corner, this app is a must-have if you are looking for unique pie recipes. It is also an ideal beginner’s guide for anyone that has yet to dip into the delicious world of pie making.

What I liked: The step-by-step video clips are a tremendous help when trying to bake a pie for the first time. For example, if you have never made a pumpkin pie before, you may not know that the filling is runny. The videos clearly show the liquid consistency of the pie filling, which will ease a beginner’s fears in the kitchen.

What I didn’t like: The user interface was just a bit confusing at first. When downloading a recipe, I couldn’t figure out where to find it at first. The app also crashed on me a number of times while using it. It was easy to find my place again, but four crashes in an hour gets a bit annoying. We’re hoping these will get addressed in a future update.
To buy or not to buy: This is a great pie recipe app. The video clips are helpful. The ingredient list and instructions are clear and easy to follow. The pies look delicious. If you bake, you want this app.
