Aruba Networks recently conducted a survey regarding future business plans for in-store mobility. Apple’s iPad and iPhone topped the list of devices that businesses plan to implement in 2012 and 2013 to assist with support for advanced applications such as mobile point-of-sale (PoS) purchases.
According to
Aruba’s survey, 56 percent of businesses plan to implement mobile technology systems using the iPad and 38 percent plan on using iPhones. The big news in business-related mobile solutions is mobile PoS solutions.
Verifone GlobalBay has been a leader in creating unique in-store mobility experiences. Recently, the company has teamed up with GUESS, Inc. to bring iPad retailing solutions to the chain of clothing stores. Verifone GlobalBay offers a
retail app for creating a more personalized customer experience through interactive selling tools. Today, the company announced new tools for mobile PoS solutions at the NRF show. The new products are geared toward “forward-looking” retailers seeking innovation in customer experience. Their new PoS solutions will, “tie into loyalty systems, link in-store experiences to e-commerce systems, and take payment from anywhere in-store.
NRC Corporation also announced its new mobile PoS solution at this year’s NRF Trade Show. The company’s newest software is a, “cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) software platform that enables independent retailers to manage transactions, track sales and inventory, process credit cards and market to customers on both POS touch screen terminals and Apple mobile devices.”
The software system can be easily downloaded from Apple’s App Store and users can register with the company from within the app. A magnetic strip reader can also be added to the iPad or other Apple device for quick purchasing.
Based on its recent survey,
Aruba Networks has also joined the mobile PoS solution industry with a smartphone and tablet-based system. First off, the company offers an optimized Wi-Fi solution enabling retailers to prioritize mobile PoS applications over less critical traffic. Aruba Networks also partnered with LightSpeed to create an iOS application so that sales staff can process sales anywhere in the store instead of requiring customers to stand in long lines, waiting for an open cash register.
This is just the beginning of where retail technology is headed. New businesses are choosing iPad PoS solutions over expensive and stationary cash registers. This year’s NRF Trade Show is proof that businesses are looking for a unique way to create a shopping experience that customers will enjoy.
