Swipe Bomb HD Review
Do you like this story?
Swipe Bomb is an addictive pick-up-and-play game that is suitable for players of all ages.
The game may look eerily familiar to fans of New Super Mario Bros. because it is loosely based off the Bomb-Omb Squad mini game. In fact, the controls are virtually the same. With one single swipe, gamers must move the bombs into the appropriate area.
The main difference lies in the details of the game. Players can create combos by dragging the same-color bombs consecutively on top of each other in the appropriate box. The longer gamers last, the more the bonus box fills in the upper right corner. Once the box fills, players advance to a bonus level where they must drag and drop four different angel bombs into the appropriate area as quickly as possible.
Swipe Bomb also features four different maps. Each map presents gamers with two different colors and types of bombs such as ghosts, mummies and ice. Players continue to rotate through these maps to see how long they can last. OpenFeint and Gamecenter leader boards and achievements are a big part of the game. Also, power-ups help keep it interesting and are purchased in the store with earned coins or IAPs.
The graphics look sharp and well-designed. While the game may look familiar, the developers did a great job to add their own touches to make it original. The Jetpack Joyride style music suits the graphics well and keeps gamers hyped as they work toward achieving a high score.
The only issue I have is that I fear it may become too repetitive after awhile. Instead of offering players levels, the game only includes four maps. There aren’t any additional objectives or challenges other than more bombs that pop up on the screen. Players may eventually retire this game quickly when they get tired of competing with friends and other online players.
In a nutshell, Swipe Bomb is a refreshing concept for those who are tired of the same types of games flooding the App Store. It has all the right elements that make it addictive, but it does lack in game play variety. Hopefully a future update resolves this. For now, If you’re looking for a new short-term game to kill time, check out Swipe Bomb today.
