NASA Gets Into iOS Gaming With Sector 33

Normally, the news of a new air-traffic control game wouldn't be terribly interesting...but this one is from NASA! Say hello to Sector 33 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The game ties in with NASA Smart Skies' LineUp with Math simulator, which encourages children to have fun with "decision making and proportional reasoning." Check out more details and screens below.

Here's an excerpt from NASA's product page:
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an Air Traffic Controller? Imagine it’s a stormy Friday in Northern California as the evening rush of air traffic fast approaches the San Francisco Bay Area from the East. All flights going to San Francisco airport pass through “Sector 33” -- your sector of airspace. As the lead air traffic controller, your job is to guide the planes safely through Sector 33 as quickly as possible. To do this, you must choose the most efficient route and make strategic speed changes. Can you handle Sector 33?
It's pretty awesome that NASA is using iOS to further its educational programs...but I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed. When I first heard that NASA was making iOS games, I envisioned an app that would help me master space and time, not something that would encourage decision making and proportional reasoning. Hmmmm, perhaps decision making and proportional reasoning are the keys to mastering space and time! Please excuse me, as I must play some Sector 33 to see if it will let me control and create wormholes.
