Leaked iPad 3 Photos Reveal Details of Apple’s Upcoming Tablet

This morning, news site BGR was sent photos from a source that claimed to be in possession of an iPad 3 prototype. The photos reveal new details about Apple’s upcoming tablet, confirming rumors that have been floating around the Internet.
The source didn’t send in pictures of the actual tablet, but instead, revealed data output from the iPad 3 from iBoot, a development and debug tool.
As DigiTimes reported a couple of weeks ago, the iPad 3 does indeed have the model numbers of J1 and J2, but these do not indicate two different types of iPad tablets. Instead, J1 is WiFi only, while J2 is WiFi and GSM/CDMA/LTE. It does not look like Apple will release a higher end and lower end iPad as DigiTimes claimed.
It looks like the LTE rumors were true, and the iPad 3 is set to become Apple’s first LTE device, providing much higher download and upload speeds than 3G. That’s good news for the iPhone 5, because if it’s in the iPad 3, we can assume it will be in Apple’s next generation cell phone as well.
And the big news? The iPad 3 will be using an A6 processor, model number S5L8945X, and it will indeed be a quad-core model. With a quad-core processor, the iPad 3 will be much faster than the iPad 2, and it will blow the competition, such as Amazon’s Kindle Fire, out of the water.
Of course, since these are from an unspecified source with a prototype iPad, there’s no guarantee that these features will be included in the actual iPad (not to mention, screenshots are easy to fake), so take this post with a healthy dose of skepticism. This is, however, information that we’ve heard from several other sources, so the quad-core processor and LTE may indeed be upgrades we’ll see in the iPad 3.
