Big Game Night: RobotGladi8or, Beat Sneak Bandit, and More

Why is Wednesday our favorite night for iOS games? Apple updates their New and Noteworthy and Featured Games lists on Thursday, so this is the best time for iOS developers to get some prime placement. Here are our picks for the biggest games launching tonight, along with links that will take you to the New Zealand App Store. These will all be available in the US App Store after 8pm PST.

RobotGladi8or

RobotGladi8or, from the developer of Dream:scape, could best be described as a combination of Infinity Blade and Dead Space. You play as a contestant on a brutal reality show where you have to battle giant robots in hand-to-hand combat. Breaking up the fights are a series of environmental puzzles and minigames. It's a bit on the short side, though, which leads us to think this is just the first episode in a larger story.

Beat Sneak Bandit

So far, Simogo has released two stellar iOS games: Kosmo Spin and Bumpy Road. Their brilliant, beautiful art style and novel game mechanics make them one of our favorite indie developers on the App Store. Tonight, Simogo will launch Beat Sneak Bandit, a combination stealth and music game. With each tap on the beat, you'll advance your little thief as he attempts to steal clocks back from the evil Duke Clockface. We've never heard of a stealth/music game before, so we can't wait to try this one for ourselves.

Mailmen

Another stealth game launching tonight, Mailmen is all about the hazardous job of delivering mail while being attacked by dogs. You have to move out of the canines' line of sight, or move quickly to tie them up when they start to attack. if you've ever played the PC game Commandos, or even Metal Gear Solid, you'll know what to expect. Mailmen is an iPad game only for now.

Sam and Max: Beyond Time and Space Ep 2

The Sam and Max series tends to go to some bizarre locations, like the North Pole, the Internet, and now Easter Island. In this re-release of Telltale's second episode from the second season of Sam and Max's PC adventures, the duo takes a portal to a place populated by giant stone heads and famous missing persons. If the last Sam and Max game you played was in 1993, you'll enjoy the zany humor and new characters in this series.
