Awesome Land

                               Awesome Land developer trailer
Most retro gamers love a good platformer, and Awesome Land appears primed to link right into the nostalgic part of our brains. Obviously inspired by old-school NES games, Awesome Land offers 20 levels, boss battles, and "meat from the walls." Whether it will be a worthy successor to our favorite games of yore, or an uninspired clone, we'll find out tonight.

Fly With Me

Fly With Me is a cute, casual bird game from EA. Somewhat along the lines of Whale Trail or Tiny Wings, in Fly With Me, you tap the screen to flap your wings to stay in the air. The goal is to make it to the end of each level without running out of energy. Each flap of the wings depletes your energy a little, but if you swallow bugs you earn it back. While some gamers might look past a title like this, the masses just might swoop it up in droves.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective developer trailer
Released last year for the Nintendo DS and very critically well received, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective begins with the main character's death. You play as his spirit as he seeks to discover who he was, who killed him, and why. Chapters 1 and 2 of this game are free to download, but the rest must be purchased separately. Judging by the quality of creator Shu Takumi's previous games in the Pheonix Wright series, you'll probably want to play Ghost Trick to the end.

Reckless Racing 2

                             Reckless Racing 2 developer trailer
The Reckless Racing series kicked off with a bang in 2010, with a very fun arcade racing game set in the American South. Our biggest complaint about the original game was the small number of tracks it contained. This sequel appears to make amends for any shortcomings, with 18 customizable cars, 24 courses, and career and arcade modes. Check this one out if you feel the need for speed.

Spice Invaders

                               Spice Invaders developer trailer
In Spice Invaders you control a group of space pirates with a single goal: to gather up as much spice as possible. Spice-filled Earth is an obvious target, but it's well armed. Your job is to plant towers to defend the pirates as they pillage the planet of its delicious spices. Spice Pirates looks to be a very deep tower defense game, with lots of weapons and upgrades, as well as a strong multiplayer component. If that's your thing, grab this game for free tonight.
