Kindle Fire Parts Orders Not So Hot in 2012

According to a recent report from DigiTimes, suppliers are reporting a drop in parts orders for the Kindle Fire by 50 percent for the first quarter of 2012. However, this isn’t unusual for this time of year.
DigiTimes’ supplier sources are claiming that ODM orders for the Kindle Fire were at six million in the fourth quarter of 2011, and only three million for Q1 12.
“Orders for Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet PCs are likely to drop to 800,000-1,000,000 a month in the first quarter of 2012 after the year-end holiday season,” sources said.
DigiTimes sources also noted that the decline in orders is in line with market expectations. In the post-holiday slump, it is normal for orders to drop. Reduction in parts orders for Amazon’s tablet will not significantly affect the company’s affiliates, including TPK Holdings and Wintek.
Wintek is also reporting that, thanks to touch panel orders from Apple, the company’s revenue stream remains robust with a predicted high of more than $300 million per month for the first quarter of 2012.
Will the Kindle Fire keep a steady growth in 2012?  Or will the new iPad 3 slow down Amazon?
