Help Freddi Fish and Her Friends Find The Great Conch Shell

Freddi Fish and the Stolen Shell by developer Humongous and publisher Atari is a colorful, cartoony, puzzle-solving interactive mystery game that will provide hours of fun for children.
In the game, the Great Conch Shell has been stolen, and poor Uncle Blenny has been arrested for its disappearance. Plus, the Founder’s Day Festival can’t start until it’s been found. Kids will join Freddi Fish and her friends to explore ancient ruins, play games in a carnival, and check out a sunken airplane in order to find clues, solve the mystery of the missing shell and clear Uncle Blenny’s name.
Finding clues and solving puzzles is the main element of Freddi Fish and the Stolen Shell. Kids will tap objects to interact with them, discover clues or pick up tools to help solve puzzles. For example, in the first scene, tapping a rope uncovers a secret area, and there’s a puzzle to open a snappy clam shell.
The game has many different areas to explore, which are all colorfully designed with endearing personality-rich characters and bright under-the-sea graphics. Journeying to a new area is as simple as tapping on one of the available white arrows.
There are also a series of fun games, like design-and-decorate Roxy Rocketfish, and Carnival Organ, which allows you to record your own songs with several instruments and play them back.

Characters will often give simple quests. For example, Pierre the Tailor wants a special blue feather for his designer hat, and Freddi must find it before Pierre will help him with another element in the story.
Nothing in the game is too hard, because Freddi is always giving helpful hints and directions on what to do next. That snappy clam? Freddi points children towards a purple sea urchin, which is also in the scene.
In every area, there are a bunch of objects to interact with. Often, tapping a random piece of seaweed or an abandoned chest will cause a dancing octopus or silly face-making fish to pop out. Every aspect of the gameplay is entertaining, which keeps the object-hunting and mystery solving from becoming boring.

This is a great game for older children, but it’s also perfect for younger children who have a parent to assist them. Freddi Fish is fun enough to keep children entertained, but also interesting enough to charm parents too. It’s the perfect team game, and could be a lot of fun in place of a story before bed.

What I liked: I guess there was a Freddi Fish computer game that’s been out for quite some time, so some of you may have played this as kids. It was entirely new to me though, and I had a great time with all of the different interactions and characters. There’s so much to do in the game!

What I didn’t like: Everything is a bit too slow. I’m an impatient gamer, and waiting for pointless animations is sometimes irritating, especially when it needs to happen more than once. I’m sure kids won’t have that problem, though. Also, according to the comments, the game has not been changed from the original, so if you played it on the PC you may want to skip this.

To buy or not to buy: Freddi Fish and the Stolen Shell is a highly entertaining game and a great bargain for just $2.99. I’d definitely recommend it – if you’ve played it as a kid and loved it, your kids are sure to love it just as much.
