Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR pictures and hands-on

Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR
You'd be forgiven for thinking that the Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR was a DSLR camera. It's not, but it's big, black, has a 3-inch LCD screen and more buttons and controls on it than, well, than most snappers you'll see.
Designed to replace the HS20EXR, it packs a whopping 30x optical zoom lens that leaps out of the chassis to slightly blush-enducing proportions. It's a weighty creature but, housing the lens power and a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor backed up with the Fujifilm EXR image creation technology, it's well worth the bulk.

Naturally, it's fully loaded on the video siding of things, capable of capturing 1080p movies at 30fps and with stereo sound too. What's also a bonus is that Fujifilm has also combined its face recognition and AF tracking modes to allow you to track your subjects' faces and keep them in focus while you shoot with no need for you to mess around with the lens ring. From our time at CES, the camera had no problems keeping up.
Obviously, there's no lens changing and no mirror and you get to compose your shots either with the superb vari-angle LCD screen or through a decent EVF which doesn't suffer from that poor frame rate that some manufacturers seem stuck with. Either work a treat and the camera will switch between them without you really having to tell it to.

Fujifilm has yet to detail pricing but has confirmed that it will be available from March 2012.
