Apple Planning First Media Event of 2012

Apple’s first media event of the year will take place in New York at the end of January, but unfortunately, the Cupertino-based company will not be announcing the much anticipated iPad 3, interactive Apple television, or iPhone 5.
Instead, the event will likely involve advertising or publishing, because Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, will be present at the announcement.
Eddy Cue is the man in charge of Apple’s media holdings, like the iTunes Store, the App Store, iBookstore, iAd, and iCloud. Cue was last in New York for an event last year where Apple helped to launch News Corp.’s The Daily, so a similar announcement may be in the works.
Apple also recently opened a snazzy retail store in the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, in addition to giving its well-known, all-glass, cube shaped store in Fifth Avenue a facelift, which may explain the New York venue. Apple’s PR team, of course, has declined to comment or give any information on the event.
While it looks like January’s announcement won’t be the one we’re all waiting for, Apple has been known to change its plans and throw in a surprise or two during its media events, so don’t give up all hope yet. There’s bound to be something good in store.
