APP OF THE DAY: Where's My Water? review (iPhone/Android)
Do you like this story?
Ah, the humble puzzle game. Well, it isn't so humble any more as games get more and more sophisticated on our mobile devices. Today we look at a big hit from a big studio. That's right, this game harks from Walt Disney, but don't be too eager to scream about shameless movie spin-offs.
No, in fact, this is a very welcome addition to the selection of casual games you carry on your iPhone (or iPad) or Android device especially if puzzling is your thing.
Where's My Water?
- Platform iPhone/Android
- Price 69p/64p
- Where iTunes/Android Market
Of course, the aim of the game is to get the water running out of Swampy's shower so the dirty 'gator can give himself a good scrub. But this isn't just a pipe game like Toobz, here you have a whole range of different environmental conditions to deal with.
In each level you'll have a source of water, be it a pool, pipe or tap. Basically you just have to get enough water to the right place to complete the level. You can lose water along the way and in fact you will sometimes have to tactically lose some water to be able to complete the level.
Levels are beautifully designed and we love the cartoon-styling. Levels are easy enough to make good progress without getting frustrating, but there are moments when you'll need a little trial and error to figure out exactly what everything does.
There are also rubber ducks to collect along the way and sometimes bonus objects hiding in the mud. You get rewarded for speed and some levels are really fast, but other levels, however, will require precision timing, so there is plenty of variety to keep things interesting.
There are currently seven chapters, each chapter comprised of 20 levels. But progression isn't simply a case of completing those levels. You'll need to make sure you get those ducks along the way, otherwise the next chapter won't be unlocked.
There are plenty of puzzle games of this type that are free, but Where's My Water? is well worth the 69p asking price on your iPhone. If you happen to be an Android user, it's a whole 5p cheaper!
