It’s a strange world out there as any regular browser of the internet will readily agree with. All the more bizarre are the sights that can be found through meticulously looking around Google Earth. Rarely that easy to navigate, it’s simpler to wait until an internet craze kicks off and everyone finds something at once. So, how about an app that has already tracked down some of the best shots around the world and then divided them up into categories for easy consultation? That’s precisely what Strangeness from Earth HD hopes to offer.

The app promises over 100 strange and wonderful sights from around the world. These are divided into 7 different categories: Paranormal, Animal, Crazy, Nature, Accidents, Curiosity and Army. It makes for an interesting selection. While some might be a little weak such as simply an image of a plane on a runway, others are more intriguing and kooky such as possible UFO sightings or cute things like a teddy bear left behind.
Many of these images have been discovered by the app’s developers but there is the potential to share cool discoveries with others. Simply sending over new coordinates and a nickname opens up those possibilities. So far though, there don’t appear to have been many new additions which is a shame as I’d expect many more strange sights out there than the ones included within this app.
Strangeness from Earth HD is consistently pretty easy to use with either the option of a sliding scale for zooming in to the right of the screen or by tapping and pinching the screen. Results are very quick also.
Strangeness from Earth HD is a quirky app that’s got some neat potential. However, it’s currently untapped potential which makes the app something to use for a short time rather than regularly check in. For $0.99, it’s not bad value but it’d be good to see more people participating.
