Quad-core Acer tablet confirmed for 2012
Do you like this story?
Recently, the Acer Iconia Tab A200 got leaky on the web, although it's thought that this particular tab will be rocking Tegra 2 rather than the newer quad-core Tegra 3 chipset.
Whatever the name though, it's definitely coming, with the Acer bossman saying: "You may have seen some leaked stories in the media relating to Acer launching a new quad-core tablet and I can confirm these stories are true.
"Acer was the first to follow Motorola with a Honeycomb tablet in 2011 after the launch of the Xoom and we intend to remain very aggressive on that front."
Wong also hinted at some Windows 8 tablets arriving in 2012 from the Taiwanese company.
"Tablets are a very important category to expand our business," he said. "We are the only company selling Windows 7 tablets in volume and next year we will continue to do the same thing with second generation Windows tablets on the way in addition to our Android tablets."
Back in March, Acer got rid of president and CEO Gianfranco Lanci because of "different views". At the time, chairman J.T. Wang said: "The personal computer remains the core of our business. We have built up a strong foundation and will continue to expand within, especially in the commercial PC segment.
"In addition, we are stepping into the new mobile device market, where we will invest cautiously and aim to become one of the leading players."
Caution, it seems, has now been thrown well and truly to the wind.
