Microsoft Releases Improved OneNote iPad App

Microsoft’s OneNote has been available on the iPhone for quite some time, allowing users to take media rich notes, record ideas, and create to-do lists, all in one app. Previously, OneNote fans who wanted to use the app on their iPads had to use the iPhone version in expanded view, which, as we all know, is less than ideal in terms of usability and interface.
As of today, the new OneNote 1.3 for iOS includes a version of the software in full resolution, which has been tailored for use with the iPad’s larger screen.
OneNote iPad users can now take advantage of bigger displays, a menu sidebar, and other iPad-only features.
OneNote is a long-standing Microsoft product that was ported to the iPhone earlier this year. It’s a centralized place for users to record appointments, tasks, ideas, notes, and more. With Microsoft’s cloud service, SkyDrive, users can automatically sync notes across all of their computers and devices.
The 1.3 update includes additional features along with iPad integration. Here’s a rundown:
  • Support for iPad and iPad 2
  • Localization into several new languages and markets
  • Tabbed user interface
  • Quick note creation in the Unfiled Notes section
  • Table rendering
  • Improved Windows Live sign-in experience
  • Option to sync notebooks only over a Wi-Fi connection
  • Integrated upgrade option
Microsoft’s OneNote is free to download and use for up to 500 notes (new or previously created). After the limit has been reached, the app can be upgraded to allow for unlimited use using in-app purchases. OneNote is $4.99 for unlimited use on the iPhone and $14.99 for unlimited use on the iPad. The OneNote app for the iPad can currently be downloaded in the App Store.
