Leica V-Lux 3 superzooms in for the new year

Sporting a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, the key aspect of this camera is its Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 4.5 - 108mm f/2.8 - 5.2 ASPH super-telephoto zoom lens (24x) that has an "enormous range of focal lengths" equivalent to 25–600mm in 35mm format.
Okay, so it may not have the range of its Olympus SP, Nikon Coolpix or Canon Powershot rivals but 600mm is still going to allow you to do some pap-style zooming and, Leica is keen to stress that, the V-Lux 3 performs well in low light and at high-speed.
Its frame rate is impressive too; 12fps at full resolution, 60fps if you crank down the dial to 3.5 megapixels.
And you'll also get 60fps on the 1080p videos too, in AVCHD format. If you'd prefer MP4 files, that option is available too. On the back is a 3-inch, 460k dot screen, ISO is 100-3200, the viewfinder is 202k and RAW files are supported as well. It measures in at 124 x 81 x 95mm and weighs 540g.
Out in January, the Leica V-Lux 3 will cost you £690. There will also be an optional outdoor case that will set you back £135.
