Cox Communications Joins the Ranks of Cable Companies with iPad Apps

Cox Communications just announced the launch of their new iPad app, Cox TV Connect for iPad. With this app, subscribers to the cable company will be able to watch 35 different channels on their iPad from anywhere in the house.
Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cablevision Systems, and other cable providers have seen huge successes with iPad apps that allow TV viewing from user’s tablets. It appears that more and more cable companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Cox Communications can be added to that list with its new app that allows users to stream live television onto the iPad at any time.
The app requires a subscription to Cox TV Essential as well as Cox Preferred, Premier or Ultimate Internet service, as well as a DOCSIS modem, in order to access shows. “Cox offers convenience through convergence and TV Connect is a new way we are making viewing more convenient and flexible for our customers,” said Steve Necessary, vice president of video product development and management.  “Our TV Connect offering will continue to evolve and expand, adding even more value to our services.”
The company recently expanded its online viewing presence by offering TV Online, which allows certain customers access to on-demand titles. The iPad app will incorporate online television viewing with mobile streaming.
