Catch the Bigspin in SummitX Snowboarding – iPad Game Review

SummitX SnowboardingWith the distinct lack of snow falling in my neck of the woods so far this season, the closest thing many of us have to hitting the slopes is playing SummitX Snowboarding.
Begin by customizing your boarder (choose between male and female toons) and then browse the shops to see the equipment and tricks you can afford to buy (or hope to afford later by mastering the game and earning Cold Cash).
This game is certainly an example of an interface where the easy stuff is really easy but the hard stuff is just that. Once you get the hang of basic sliding down the hill movements there are tricks galore to master that will help you score points while earning medals and in-game cash. Don’t forget to really throw yourself into it, by using the accelerometer the game responds to tilt which also serves to put you ‘in the groove’!
With 36 multi-branching runs on 6 mountains there is no shortage of options and variety. Of course, this also means that once you master one run you still have a long way to go!

What I liked: The game boasts an awesome licensed soundtrack featuring 20 different bands! This really does add a lot to the game.
What I didn’t like: I wish there was a tutorial mode for those that may not ultimately be that familiar with the sport of snowboarding so they can see the various tricks being performed properly. Even though there are instructions with each one, it can be hard to put those into play when you aren’t experienced.
To buy or not to buy: Even if you have never strapped on a snowboard, this game is a lot of fun and well worth the price of admission.
