Snuggle Truck HD – iPad Game Review

If you can resist an app with the word ‘snuggle’ in the name, you are a stronger person than I am. The premise of the game is simple, get your truck filled with stuffed animals from point A to point B. Now, watch out for uneven terrain, obstacles and try not to lose any of your furry friends in the process.
It sounds like a very easy game to play and in theory it is. You just have to keep in mind how light a stuffed animal is and how easily it could bounce out of a truck-bed.
Driving your truck past the finish line (arriving at the zoo) is the goal, but you need to do that while losing as few of your fuzzy passengers as possible. Fortunately if you bounce a few out you can slow down and employ a few driving stunts in order to re-catch them and not lose them entirely! The more you play, the easier this becomes.
I really enjoy games like this one that offer a series of achievements (recorded in the Game Center) as well as rewards (medals within the game itself that are awarded for doing things like passing the finish line within a given time limit and with a minimum number of passengers in tow).
To kick it up a notch, there are oodles of power-ups and boosts that you can collect (or purchase) and use to your advantage.
If you are creative and so inclined, a built in level-editor allows you to create your own obstacle course for yourself (and others playing the game) to conquer. These will come in addition to the 40 built-in levels!

What I liked: I found it very easy to get used to the controls in the game. A thumb on the right side of the screen will make you accelerate while a thumb on the left will slow you down by braking. If you tilt your iPad you can help your truck to land gently.

What I didn’t like: There is a detailed tutorial which begins this game. Although it does serve to teach you all of the ins and outs of the game, it also seems to drag on a little bit. Now, with that said I think it does show you a lot of tricks and tips for the game itself that helps you to get a lot more out of it that you might have otherwise overlooked.

To buy or not to buy: This game is particularly well done. I really enjoyed playing it and while I was fortunate to grab it while it was free, it would still be worth it even if you miss the promotion and have to pay.
