Kodak Easyshare Touch and Mini hands-on

Kodak Easyshare Touch and Mini hands-on

The Kodak Easyshare Touch and Mini models were announced at CES 2011 in Las Vegas and we were there to give the new cameras a quick play on the show floor.
The Kodak Easyshare Touch is a 14-megapixel compact camera measuring 100.2 x 75.6 x 20.1mm and offering a 3-inch touchscreen display on the rear. We’ve seen a number of touch models over the past couple of years, with most major camera manufacturers offering some take on this method of control.
The screen seemed responsive enough to navigate and we like the use of big icons to make it easy to punch what you want. It’s perhaps a shame that Kodak has opted for such a small zoom toggle on the rear of the camera which was a little uncomfortable to use.
The Easyshare Touch uses microSD cards, offers a 5x optical zoom and will give you 720p HD video capture.

Moving over to the Kodak Easy Share Mini, one of the highlight features seems to be the reflective silver button on the front, meaning you can easily snap pictures of yourself. The Kodak agent we spoke to described the Mini as pitched at “tweens”.
The Mini offers up a 10-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom lens. The tiny body measures 94 x 60.1 x 30.5mm, but the specs seem to have been pared down too, so it only offers VGA quality video capture. There is a 2.5-inch screen on the back.
