Kodak Easyshare Max offers 30x zoom, we go hands-on
Do you like this story?
The Kodak Easyshare Max gives you a 12-megapixel sensor and a 30x Schneider Kreuznach optical zoom lens, giving you the equivalent of 28-840mm, with a reasonable F/2.8 max aperture at the widest angle.
You get full manual controls accessed via the dial on the top, including an HDR mode that gets pride of place among the usual shooting modes. You get optical image stabilisation, face detection, a 120fps capture mode (at a reduced 1MP size) and Full HD video capture.
A pop-up flash sits above the electronic viewfinder; on the rear is a 3-inch LCD display.
In the hand it feels a little basic, the large grip seems to lack the range of controls that is typical on this type of camera, leaving you clutching what feels like a large piece of plastic. Compared to some of the existing rivals we saw in 2010 and we can’t get that excited about it.
