Though the aesthetic of every comic strip or comic book can differ very greatly, not everyone has the artistic talent to be able to put pen (or pencil) to paper and sketch out the characters and environments needed for a complete comic. Kabaam to the rescue! Kabaam helps users take images from their own photo albums and turn them into short comics with a few swipes of their fingers.
Kabaam includes everything needed to create a fun and creative comic. First, users take a photo from their album and load it into the app. Once loaded into the app, users can add all kids of different comic elements to the image. Titles, large letter sound effect text, and several different types of speech bubbles. Users can change the position, rotation, size and orientation of each element.
Multiple images can be added to each comic and each photo can have it’s own set of comic elements. The only restriction users will find in this app is that there is no way to change the orientation or size of the comic boxes. The images automatically load into slightly rectangular boxes, and while the user has the ability to resize and move the images within these boxes, they can’t changes the size or shape of the boxes themselves. Depending on how many images are added to each comic, the comic will be in one long strip or a stacked grid.
Other than the ability to change the size of comic boxes, this is a fairly full-featured app that provides enough features and variety that users can create to their heart’s content. There aren’t so many options that they app becomes unwieldily on a mobile device, though. There are also lots of options for both importing images and exporting final comics. Users can even import images from Facebook – a nice addition to a photo app like this. Users will have fun with this app and will have an easy time sharing their finished work.
