iPhone 4S and iPad 2 beat Kindle to top Christmas wishlists

Apple devices top the Christmas wishlists for Brits this year, with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S edging out other gadgets such as Amazon's Kindle.
According to a survey by shopping website VoucherCodes.co.uk, over a third of Brits would like an iPad 2 in their stocking. The iPhone 4S is next on the list and Apple's iPod nano (fourth generation) also appears on the list in sixth place.
The third most desired gadget is a 3D TV set, with Amazon's Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch 3D fourth and fifth respectively. Anyone in the UK who is holding out for a Kindle Fire or Kindle Touch, though, is in for a disappointment, as neither is available outside the US at the moment. Lower down the list, the Xbox Kinect, Samsung Galaxy Tab and BlackBerry Playbook feature.
However, with the average person's Christmas budget found to be just under £700, and with the average individual planning on spending only £231 on gadget-based gifts, many of us could be in for a big let-down on Christmas morning, the site warned.
"It seems that Brits will be waiting a long time for the presents they want the most this Christmas and may well have to buy the gadgets they are hankering after themselves," said Duncan Jennings, co-founder of VoucherCodes.co.uk.
"Given the current squeeze on purse strings, we are expecting the January sales to start earlier than ever this year, and gadgets and technology can provide some of the best bargains. Planning your approach to the sales will ensure that you get the most of the discounts on offer."
VoucherCodes.co.uk polled 3,000 Brits in its survey.
