iPad 3 And Competing Tablet Predictions This Fall

iPad 3

According to some staggering numbers, companies are really going after the iPad 3 market shares; and so much so that analysts have predicted that there may be too large of a surplus of competing tablets creating lack of demand.
Where is that lack of demand expected to come from? Yeah like you probably guessed, from all the competitors. The lack of demand will likely create price wars amongst (to name a few) Asus, HP, Motorola and maybe even the still under wraps Amazon tablet rumored to be a direct threat towards Apple and their iPad 3.

Will the iPad 3 Be Part of the 38.9 Million Units?

Current estimates for 2011 have Apple’s tablet at roughly 38.9 million units and 23.7 million for competitors combined. The difference here is that increased product shipment by Apple is a direct response to improving product availability as they try and catch up with demand. Tim Cook (COO) of Apple said “we have sold every iPad we made. On the other hand, competing tablets are pushing more and more inventory to their retail outlets even though they have experienced lackluster sales. Storing inventory is expensive, and oversupply will force retail outlets to consider price reduction and other measures in order to move the inventory.

iPad 3 & iOS 5

Combine these statistical estimates with the rumors that we might see the Apple iPad 3 later this year and you have an increased demand for the iPad; not just a tablet. Are people willing to settle for a secondary device in a market that Apple has commanded through specs, design, and functionality since the introduction of the original iPad? That’s all opinion but you may know a person or two who bought a competing tablet that can share their insights about their purchase.
If Apple does release the iPad 3 later this year with the inclusion of iOS 5 pre-loaded, you can guarantee that it’s only going to make matters worse for the other companies that keep creeping up with the next Apple iPad Killer.
