Google Music Store Almost Ready? With a Free Song a Day?

Google Music
We’re on the verge of the official Google Music release on November 16, 2011 and that has been verified now that we’ve had a sneak peek at the homepage of the service itself. There are lots of things we don’t know about Google Music but it appears as if they plan on giving away a song a day –which should be a huge incentive to give it a shot. Because this is exactly how loyalties are born, Apple may be a bit concerned with this news.
Beyond that free song, we expect that pricing will be similar to the competition.
Among those things that we don’t know are exactly how the Google Music service will tie in (at least we presume it will) to the Google Cloud storage. It also isn’t clear how much or how little of what Google Music has to offer will be available to devices other than those running Android.
Other rumors around the Internet discuss how Google is frantically trying to make deals with record companies even prior to the launch, but it would seem they are running out of time. News indicates they may be close to signing Universal Music Group which would be a significant bolster that allows the search giant to sell titles from their considerable catalog. A few other record companies are already on board so the balls are already in play there.
Google has had a hard time courting these big record companies with some speculation that the difficulty is related to their hesitation to censor any sites from their databases, even those that may be considered as promoting and providing access to pirating music.
Are you excited for Google Music to go live? Do you think it has the potential to one-up the popularity of Apple’s iTunes?
