Explore the Music Scene with New eMusic iPad App

eMusic
Music lovers will rejoice in eMusic Scenes for the iPad, a new app that brings an element of social networking to the history behind the music. By providing a forum for legendary music writers, eMusic Scenes uses artist imagery, in-depth editorial, song samples, and radio programs to describe over 18 well known music scenes including Detroit Soul, Greenwich Village Folk and Berlin Techno.

Music lovers should enjoy this app. As you browse each scene you can save albums for later so you can be sure to pick up the songs you enjoy as well as leaving comments and suggestions for content additions. The developers of this app invite you to “feel the energy and vibe of a music scene through listening, reading, watching and commenting.”
The design of the app is an artistic compliment to the music itself, feeling more like the iPad equivalent of a lovely coffee-table book that you would treasure. It is my hope that as this app is downloaded and embraced, more music scenes will be added such that it becomes an encyclopedia-quality reference.
The developer also advises with their press release that several features can be enjoyed from within the app, including:
  • Original, in-depth articles on each scene
  • Interrelated videos and compelling artist imagery
  • eMusic Radio (beta) programs for each scene
  • Commenting features; ability to add to the story
  • eMusic Members and Guest Members can save featured albums for later
  • Registration is free
eMusic is a membership based system billed as a discovery-and-download destination for music collectors. Your monthly subscription fee entitles you to a host of valuable features including being able to discover, download and own music along with enjoying recommendations, artist interviews, album reviews, and curated streaming radio programming. And the best part (speaking as a Canadian to whom many of these services are not available), eMusic can be used in U.S., Canada, the E.U., Norway and Switzerland.
