Exploding iPhone prompts technical examination

Exploding iPhone prompts technical examination. iPhone 4, Apple, Phones 0

An Australian domestic airline has reported that there was a case of an in-flight exploding iPhone during a flight to Sydney; this, prompting a technical investigation of the product.
According to the aviation company, Regional Express Airlines, "fumes, smoke, fire" poured out of the device before being dealt with by one of the attendants.
"The flight attendant carried out recovery actions immediately and the red glow was extinguished successfully," according to the airline statement. "All passengers and crew on board were unharmed."
This isn't the first time Apple's iPhone handsets have suffered with overheating issues; Apple placing the blame on users in 2009 for some cases of iPhone meltdown and trouble with the iPhone chargers burning out.
Still, this particular instance is being investigated by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, who will not only be talking to those concerned with the spontaneous combustion, but also Apple itself.
It's only been a few weeks since Apple recalled its original iPod nano due to fears of overheating due to a faulty battery pack.
