Beauty and the Beast: Storybook Deluxe – iPad App Review

I don’t care how old you are, the story of Beauty and the Beast is one that can promise to enchant and engage. If you are a little girl this story is nothing short of magical, particularly with Disney at the helm.
Filled with graphics made famous by the their cartoon and voices that your child will find familiar, this app is a pure delight. As with all Disney Digital Books I have had the pleasure to try, this one is a quality product from start to finish.
Along with the familiar story and artwork, this app is filled with value-added features that will bring your child right inside the Disney world. Games, puzzles, sing-alongs to songs from the film and explore your child’s artist side while they color their favorite still shots.
Familiar features found in many interactive books are also present such as word highlighting as the story is read (when you choose to have a narrator guide you through) or take the lead yourself and even record your own voice. I’ve really grown to love this feature when you can have somebody special read the story for your child that may not always be around to read to them.
Beauty and the Beast is a special story that teaches an important lesson; beauty is only skin deep and in the end it is not what matters most. Combine that and the age-old ‘don’t judge a book by its’ cover’ and you will be glad to share this app with your child.

What I liked: Nobody knows quality like Disney and this app is no exception. Because they are able to leverage familiar images and sounds, the app will easily become a favorite.

What I didn’t ljavascript:void(0)ike: I wish the interactive features were a little more integrated with the story itself and required less departure from what you are reading.

To buy or not to buy: If there is a little princess in your life, this app is a must-have and you will not be disappointed with your purchase.
