Apple Adding New Manufacturer for iPad 3 Production

According to recent rumors, Apple intends to add a second manufacturer to produce their iPad 3 and other tablets. In a recent publication on Monday, DigiTimes stated that industry sources in Taiwan were responsible for this leaked information.
The companies that would have a fighting chance to produce the Apple tablets are Quanta Computer, and Pegatron Technology. It’s unknown right now who will have the luxury of consistent demand for production and develop a long time relationship with the Cupertino giant.
iPad 2 Plus, or iPad 3 is still a mystery at this time.
The likely candidate is going to be Pegatron since they are also rumored to have received orders to begin manufacturing for the iPhone 5 as well. More manufacturers can only be a good thing right? As it stands now, Apple only sends their orders to Foxconn who is based in Chengdu China.You may remember one of our earlier reports on the explosion that occurred at Foxxconn back in May that claimed the lives of 3 and left numerous others in the hospital. Apple is likely adding another manufacturer to alleviate any issues of product shipment should something happen to one of their manufacturers. Basically, they want a backup plan if they have a delay in production at one location.
Less iPad 3 Shortage but maybe with a Price to Pay
Since Foxconn often finds itself at the root of rumors and employee’s have been arrested in the past for leaking information this may be a concern for Apple that they will need to address with the new production company.After the shortage of tablets to meet demand for the iPad 2 back in March this will be perfect for those looking to purchase an iPad 3 on its release date without hearing the dreaded, sorry we’re sold out. Once again supporting this rumor is that we will see another Apple tablet later this year. Whether it’s the iPad HD, iPad 2 Plus, or iPad 3 is still a mystery at this time.
