The iPad vs. 2012: No Problem!
Do you like this story?

Whether Apple sells a few less iPads than they projected or Amazon sells a few million of their own devices, the true measures of success are all being dominated by Apple. No matter the number of units sold, the single-manufacturer approach to iOS (as opposed to the profit-splitting seen by the large number of Android manufacturers that are most certainly not created equally) shows Apple with the largest recorded profits, the highest paid developers and the most devices held by consumer hands.
With 2012 just a few short sleeps away we can’t help but wonder what the year will bring for Apple and their flagship tablet. If you’ll indulge me for just a moment I would like to make a few predictions.
I believe that the well-deserved success of the next-generation eReader/tablet hybrid devices will serve to educate and enlighten the already hungry mobile market. While some may say that the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet are stealing sales away from the iPad, I believe they are only serving as appetizers for many who will be hooked and want something more powerful. Even if that isn’t the eventual result, the iPad will still benefit from the additional press and constant comparisons (that Apple always seems to dominate in every way other than cost –and don’t mistake cost for worth).
The iPad 3 is expected to launch in 2012 and is already being met with rave reviews. Unlike the iPhone, form factor really isn’t on the list of expected changes which leaves upgrades that Apple is already very comfortable and familiar with. Though it may still be a series of rumors and speculation, I’m going to say that a better camera, faster processor and sharper screen resolution will all contribute to the next generation iPad becoming even more irresistible.
And finally, let’s not forget that while we all measure the sales and successes of the iPad and iPad 2, the iPhone continues to dominate the smartphone market. Over 30 million iPhone 4S devices were delivered since the fall launch and this means a large number of users who are familiar with iOS, invested in Apple and quite possibly (and likely) becoming brand loyal. Nothing about that is bad for the iPad.
