Anonymous Sources Respond to iPad 3 Rumors
A recent article published by digitimes talks about upstream component vendors and their response to a 2011 release date for the iPad 3. Rumors have been suggesting that Apple is looking to equip the iPad 3 with an AMOLED panel or full HD resolution support; as we noted with our news about Apple sourcing from Samsung.They believe that this could be a potentially high risk move by allowing a competitor (Samsung) to control one of the key components of its device. However, Samsung stands to gain from this relationship as well, because their sales for display technology would increase significantly.
What are the vendors saying?
Anonymous component vendors are claiming that Apple has yet to order any parts for an iPad 3, and that releasing a new generation so quickly would steal unnecessary share from its iPad 2. Furthermore, they also stated that they don’t foresee orders anytime soon either for iPad 3 components.This may be some bad news for Apple fans hoping for a 2011 release date for the iPad 3; however we would also like to point out that the sources are anonymous, and that digitimes has been known to have hit-or-miss luck when it comes to reporting about anonymous industry sources.
Could this be an attempt to redirect the hype onto the iPad 2? You decide.We obviously haven’t heard any confirmation for or against an iPad 3 release in 2011 by Apple themselves. Apple is currently catching up to demand and ramping up shipping on the iPad 2; which is exactly where they want to keep consumers current focus.
