iPad 3 Likely To Incorporate Samsungs New Retina Display
Samsung, who is trying to compete in the tablet market with the Samsung Galaxy, revealed plans to increase their pixel density to new; never before seen levels.We were all hoping that the iPad 2 was going to include a higher retina display but as we mentioned in previous updates; it just didn’t pan out for many reasons behind the scenes.
The iPad 3 is guaranteed to have an upgraded screen and we’re willing to bet that Apple will be looking to source the screens from Samsung; that is as long as agreements can be met ahead of time constraints of course.
Samsung’s latest announcement boasted tablet displays with a projected 300-400 PPI or pixels per inch coming out in their line ups. For comparison purposes, their current seven inch galaxy displays at around 170ppi. This would be a legendary leap, which would put resolutions well above 1080p capabilities.
What does that mean for Apple?
As we have seen lately Apple has been able to develop solid relationships with other companies to outsource the production of certain components to be used in their tablets (and other technology).To give you an example of their sourcing; the iPhone 4′s display is currently sourced from LG. To take this a step further and really solidify why we believe they will be partnering with Samsung’s new technology is because the iPad already has components from Samsung (dual core A5 processor).
If our assumptions hold true, Apple will be looking to Samsungs new retina technology when it comes time to put a new display on the iPad 3. This would certainly save on time and hopefully costs as well, because being able to outsource a display gives Apple more time to perfect other components of the ipad 3.
