Help Mama Chicken Save Her Babies in Chicken Rescue

Chicken Rescue is a fun, family friendly tilt-to-move game where players must help Mama Chicken find and rescue her poor lost chicks, which have gone missing from the chicken coop.
In this fun arcade game, your job is to guide Mama Chicken to her chicks, avoiding trees, barrels, hungry pigs, and ledges, all while gathering coins and stars.
The game consists of Mama Chicken rolling around the level, controlled by tilt motion. While Chicken Rescue is meant to be tilt-based, if you don’t care for the controls, you can also enable a virtual joystick. I stuck with the original controls for this review, which were a bit difficult to use, so you may have better mileage with a different option.
Anyway, tilting your iPad moves Mama Chicken around the level, where she must gather up her chicks. Every level requires a certain number of chicks to finish, and when Mama nears a chick, it will follow her to the coop.

The secondary goal in the game is to collect flowers, which contributes to your final score. Your final score earns you coins, and coins are used to unlock new upgrades at the main menu. You can upgrade attributes like health and increase the number of points and hearts earned per level. Coins can also be purchased within the app, and you get a bonus of 500 coins for rating the app 5 stars in the App Store.

Collecting all of the chicks and flowers in a level will earn you three stars, which is an easy enough task. This game is not difficult, but it can be frustrating because the motion controls are not precise. Getting around objects was often time consuming and irritating, especially when enemies were introduced into the mix.
Although it can be frustrating at times, this is a fun, colorful game that’s perfect for children and adults alike, thanks to the simple gameplay concepts and uncomplicated controls. In all, there are 24 levels to beat, plus Game Center achievements to earn and leaderboards to top.
What I liked: Upgrading health and abilities was a fun addition to this arcade game.
What I didn’t like: The controls were difficult to use, and there was no option to skip a level. There were too many tutorial levels and too few actual levels, so hopefully more levels will be added to the game in the future.
To buy or not to buy: If you’re a fan of both tilt motion and arcade games, then Chicken Rescue is a good bet.
