Are We Approaching the Pinnacle of Tablet PC Graphics?

At DICE 2012 Epic Games CEO and technical director Tim Sweeney talked about the future of video game graphics during a session called “Technology and Gaming in the Next 20 Years”. During the talk he discussed how the human eye is the equivalent of a 30-megapixel camera and how the most it can process on tablets is a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 at 72 frames per second. Considering the rumors of the iPad 3's capabilities, is the industry close to achieving this pinnacle?

Remember, the iPad 3 is rumored to have a "Retina Display" (complete marketing term, btw) packing a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536. The (also rumored) A6 processor should keep that resolution running at a steady frame rate. Given the pace of GPU advancements, it's totally conceivable that tablets could be running at 2,560 x 1,600 at 72 frames per second within two years.
What do you think? Will tablet computing graphics reach their peak in a few years? Also, check out Sweeney's brilliant talk above. He does a phenomenal job at taking highly technical information and explaining it in terms everyone can relate to.
