Nominees Announced for 2012 International Mobile Gaming Awards

Last week, a group of professionals from all sectors of the mobile gaming world gathered around a conference table in Marseille, France to select the nominees for the eighth annual International Mobile Gaming Awards. Slide To Play was on the panel, along with journalists from other mobile gaming sites, game developers, and representatives from the hardware side of mobile gaming. Read on to find out more about the IMGAs, and the full list of nominees.

This year, the judges looked at nearly 500 games in order to come up with 30 nominees in a variety of categories. The winners in each category will be announced on March 1 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The winners will receive about $130,000 of free publicity from ProSieben Sat1 Games, one of the IMGA's Platinum sponsors, and the overall winner will receive about $525,000 of free publicity.

Maarten Noyons, the CEO and founder of the IMGA, said, “We have had an unprecedented response for this year’s awards. We see a trend of very high quality, big productions coming to the mobile platform, and on the other hand a lot of fresh, innovative casual games... I would like to congratulate each of the developers that have games nominated and thank everyone who submitted games to the awards.”
