iRig Makers Add More Exciting Tools to Their Musical Arsenal

Just when you thought you had everything you needed to create an in-home recording studio with IK Multimedia’s iRig AmpliTube, iRig Mic, iRig MIDI and all their recently announced new products, the music accessory makers have added more must-have gadgets for your mobile device.

In attendance at this year’s National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show in Anaheim, IK Multimedia showed off some more of their newest toys.

iRig PRE- Instead of having to use a premade microphone, specifically for the iPad, why not have an adaptor that allows any microphone with an XLR connector to be plugged into it. Some singers need the heavyweight capacity of a dynamic microphone. Other times, a condenser microphone might be more appropriate for back-up vocals and the like. Being tied to a single microphone can make it difficult to produce the results you want. The iRig PRE frees you from the constraints of a single mic recording.

This high-quality preamp is designed specifically for iOS devices and allows users to plug whatever microphone they want into the standard XLR adaptor. The iRig PRE features an adjustable thumbwheel gain control for level setting and includes a standard stereo headphone output for monitoring. It also comes with a Velcro strip slot so it can be mounted on a mic stand. The iRig PRE includes two free apps, iRig Recorder and VocalLive.

This handy, lightweight and portable adaptor costs $39.99 and will be available from the company’s website sometime within the first half of this year.

iKlip Studio- You don’t have to be a recording artist to appreciate this iPad desktop stand. It was designed specifically for musicians, but any iPad owner will value its form and function. The iKlip Studio holds the iPad firmly in place while you energetically tapping out the next drumbeat. It has multiple tilt positions including the low-profile angle, ideal for apps using mixers, controllers or synthesizers, and near vertical for reading scores or tablatures.

The iKlip Studio is made of lightweight, shock-resistant thermoplastic with rubber footpads to prevent sliding. The iPad can be displayed in portrait or landscape mode and the case collapses flat for maximum portability. It is compatible with the first and second-generation iPad.

This sturdy display costs $29.99 and will be available from the company’s website sometime within the first half of this year.
